Current Artwork on Exhibit

In Wandering Rumi's Field, artist Tom Malinoski is inspired by 13th century scholar, mystic and poet Jelaluddin Rumi.   Rumi and his followers pondered the essential questions of human existence, prominent among them: ‘‘What is it that holds the world together?’’ They sought answers in music, in image, in dreams and in the events of life as they occurred. The principle motive in Rumi’s poetry was exploration of the intersection of the human and the divine.

‘‘When I encountered that information, it brought an end to my struggle to explain my own work,’’ Malinoski says. ‘‘I work from the inside out, from the bottom up. Each layer applied dictates and directs what follows until a conclusion presents itself. I do not begin a piece with an outcome in mind, and I am as surprised as any other viewer to see the final image. I am a wanderer, after all, ever curious about what lies around the corner and over the rise.’’

Malinoski's work is on display through mid June.
